And older projects…

Telemetry (2009)
$50,000
Telemetry facilitates and helps monitoring rehabilitation exercises after surgery. The patient is connected to an electrocardiogram, which allows the nurse to monitor the patient from the nursing station. The telemetry system that has been acquired has significantly reduced patient wait time to access treatment. Wait time was approximately 6 months and patients often had to travel to Bathurst twice a week, but because of additional costs and transportation problems, many patients refused treatment.

Gazebo (2009)
$15,000
The gazebo provides patients with a shelter where to socialize in the event of bad weather while going out for some fresh air.

Minivan (2009)
$35,000
The minivan purchased improves the quality of life of patients at the Restigouche Hospital Centre and makes it possible for them to participate in recreational activities outside the Health Authority. The minivan makes transportation much easier, whether it be for local activities or family visits, as the individual driving it does not need a special driver’s license.

Microscopes (2009)
$50,000
The two microscopes that have been purchased for the laboratory provide improved images allowing users to clearly identify abnormalities for cancer diagnosis. The integrated high definition digital camera also has the advantage of facilitating consultations between specialists. (Images may be printed or saved electronically.)

CO2 Laser (2008)
$100,000
A client of the Women’s Wellness Center, Linda, has to go for routine dilation and cutterage procedures. Before the opening of the clinic, she would have to see her family doctor, who would put her under complete anesthesia to perform the procedure. Now, she is able to see a specialized professional who can do the procedures under regional anesthesia. Linda also added that the nurses working at the clinic are very kind and put her fears at ease in very little time.

Therapeutic Park (2006)
$100,000
Mrs. Martin, mother of one of the patients of the Restigouche Hospital Center and one of the generous people who donated for the park, explains that the therapeutic park is a very important initiative towards improving the patients’ quality of life. The park offers a new dimension to the patients’ regime by giving them a great variety of exercises as well as an excuse to go outside on a nice day. She is very pleased to have contributed to the project which she considers progressive.

Bariatric Bed (2006)
$50,000
The Bariatric plus system brings safety and efficiency by protecting patients and caregivers, and helps deliver care faster with fewer people. The bed system has many special features needed to manage bariatric patients. Those features help getting patients moving throughout their stay and preserving their dignity at every turn.
