Campbellton, New Brunswick – On July 3rd, the Friends of Healthcare Foundation raised $68,000 during its third Annual Golf Tournament held at the Restigouche Golf Club and organized in partnership with Plaza Chevrolet Buick GMC and Restigouche Drive‑Thru.
Despite some rain showers, a number of the region’s health professionals and business people came together for an enjoyable day of golfing. Plaza Chevrolet Buick GMC and Molson Coors Canada, major sponsors of the event, were in attendance as well as the honorary president of this year’s Tournament, Steve Shutt, former star player of the Montréal Canadiens and Hall of Famer and special guests Yvon Lambert, also former player of the Montréal Canadiens, and Dominique Doucette, Miss Canada 2015. They were very generous of their presence throughout the day.
According to Jean-Luc Landry, Executive Director of the Foundation, the event was a huge success. “I was thrilled by the interest and enthusiasm shown by the participants during the tournament. I am happy to report that the event attracted more partakers than ever. In fact, we were sold out this year! It is important to mention that such success would not have been possible without our primary partners and gold sponsors, namely Restigouche Drive‑Thru, the Centre financier aux entreprises, in cooperation with the Caisse Populaire Restigouche, CIMS, as well as our silver sponsors, our various hole sponsors, the business people who offered prizes, our special guests, all the participants, our donors and of course our precious volunteers. Without their invaluable contributions, it would have been impossible to raise such an amount.
Mr. Jean-Jacques Normand, owner of Plaza Chevrolet Buick GMC, and Mr. Allison Metallic, owner of Restigouche Drive‑Thru, were very proud to be associated with the Friends of Healthcare Foundation for the golfing event. In addition, they were also very happy to point out that after three short years, this event was sold out for the first time and has become a prestigious golf tournament for this region, “Plus, it’s all for a worthy and charitable cause!” said Mr. Jean-Jacques Normand. “Being involved with the Foundation’s golf tournament, I cannot help but feel ecstatic by such success” stated Mr. Allison Metallic.
As for Dr. Hristo Laevski, he was very pleased with the event. “We took the opportunity to honour Dr. Surya Master, a great man who has worked tirelessly for the region’s healthcare services. It was a well-deserved moment of recognition for his years of service and devotion to the community. We also seized the opportunity to unveil the generous donation of $101,692.75 that Dr. Master recently made to the Friends of Healthcare Foundation.”
Finally, the Foundation thanks the public for their inexhaustible support and invites everyone to take part in the organization’s fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for July 8th, 2016.
