Restigouche Zone Physicians Support the Friends of Healthcare Foundation for a 4th year

Campbellton (N.-B.) – The Doctors’ Walk Steering Committee is happy to announce the new theme for the 4th Doctors’ Walk, which is PREGNANT WOMEN’S HEALTH. It is very important for pregnant women to eat well and avoid alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. This is why this year’s slogan is “Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby”.

We all remember the first edition of the Walk, about smoking cessation, during which $30,435 was raised. The second year’s theme was diabetes and over $39,000 was raised. Last year, once again over 350 people walked the streets of Campbellton, this time to support mental health, raising more than $47,000. Last year’s co-chairs Drs. Holly and Khatib are passing the torch to Dr. Robichaud, hoping that this year’s Walk will be just as big a success. Dr. Robichaud would like to thank them for their great work last year and reminds all the doctors in the area that their involvement and participation is crucial once again this year to reach the $30,000 objective.

Ms. Jessie Caron, Nurse Manager of Obstetrics-Gynecology, stated: “Funds raised will be used to raise awareness and provide education on the importance of pregnant women’s health. She therefore invites everyone to take part in the Walk and do like many doctors in the Restigouche by putting on their running shoes on October 1st! Finally, Ms. Caron would like to thank the sponsors: AV Group Inc. and A.L.P.A. Equipment Ltd, for making this event possible.

Mr. Jacques Duclos, Vice-President of Community Services and Mental Health for Vitalité Health Network, was very pleased to see such a wonderful initiative, all the more so since it is a project that benefits the Restigouche community on a yearly basis. “I’m very proud to be able to count on the support of the Friends of Healthcare Foundation and the whole community in ensuring our population’s wellness.” He also thanked local physicians for their involvement and support to the Foundation.
